  • Security Supervisor

  • Salary: £33,280 per annum
    Hours: 37.5 per week, 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
    Contract: Permanent, full-time


    As Port Security Supervisor for Pembroke Port and Pembroke Dock Ferry Terminal you will be responsible for managing all security staff within department and ensuring compliance with ISPS and DFT requirement including required audits and record keeping, whilst ensuring procedures and risk assessments are accurate and up to date and shared throughout department.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILTIES
    • Provide daily leadership and oversite to security teams with the Port of Pembroke
    • RORO Terminal Gatehouse Staff
    • RORO Terminal Search Teams
    • RORO Ticket Booth/Searchers
    • Gate 1 Security Team

    Security Team Leadership
    • Carry out Security team appraisals and set SMART objectives
    • Refresh and reinvigorate the security team forming a cohesive unit that works co-operatively across the Port of Pembroke facility
    • Ensure correct staffing levels and cover and oversee staff rota’s and annual leave requests and generate vacancies when required
    • Ensure all Security staff are trained and that all relevant qualifications are kept up to date
    • Carry out disciplinary action when required in conjunction with HR department and OM

    Security and Health and Safety
    • Carry out security procedural audits and ensure any required action is taken
    • Manage the security teams transition through Brexit, ensuring that all procedures are accurate and adhered to
    • Carry out safety and security drills with support from HSS manager
    • Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and follow SEMS
    • Provide oversight and drive security compliance, ensuring that all the relevant documents are up to standard and in date and that a review process is in place and carried out
    • Ensure Port maintains ISPS code
    • Ensure all data required by DFT is recorded and up to standard and lead the ports response to any inspections
    • Report on relevant information and data to the QOM via scorecard and regular meetings
    • Work with Health Safety and Security Department to develop and carry out security training and drills as per DFT requirements
    • Carry out relevant security training
    • Take ownership of all relevant LWI’s and Risk Assessments for allotted areas ensuring they are accurate and up to date and ensure procedures are TBT to your teams
    • Attend relevant meetings and substitute for Operations Manager when required
    • Assist QOM to build business cases relevant to the PDFT security department
    • Monitor Budget codes relevant to department and assist QOM with setting and reforecasting of budget

    RISK MANAGEMENT
    • Be alert to all possible risks, raising any concerns and reporting events through the Assurance Framework
    • Assist with Health and Safety and Security audits and actions any findings
    • Be familiar with and adhere to all relevant company policies, procedures and local work instructions
    • Ensure R/A and LWI are reviewed and updated by the relevant people with a specific focus on security
    • Update and review relevant procedures and disseminate to your team via TBT

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    Essential:

    • Experience of planning and maintaining facility security and must be capable of being vetted and authorised as a Port Facility Security Officer
    • Ability to present security information clearly and precisely both orally and in writing
    • You will be a robust highly organised individual who thrives in a challenging environment with a willingness to work flexible hours
    • Proficient ITC skills with a focus on the production of spreadsheets with a keen eye for detail and long-term planning
    • Good communicator
    • Willingness to cover security positions if required
    • A background in management of security teams and port security
    • Experience working with a budget
    • A good knowledge of risk assessments and ensuring compliance
    • Proven track record in Health Safety and Security
    • Previous experience in a similar role
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to work flexible hours including some nights

    Desirable:
    • Relevant security qualification e.g. PFSO, Explosives Security Officer, Radiation Protection Officer (RPO)
    • Level 3 - Award in Education and Training
    • Experience carrying out searches
    • Qualified to IOSH level or higher
    • Previous experience working in Ports or similar

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    • The post entails being part of an on-call rota system
    • Some weekend and night working will be required (expected to organise schedule to cover a variety of times)
    • Standard hours 08.30-5.00pm, but flexible working will be required including nights
    • Some shift work may be required
